vedic sonority

a real-time tabla performance in the audio domain

i first performed this in the spring of 2007 at sounding out in the main gallery and did a re-performance at my mfa graduation recital. i made a max patch called vedic_sonority.pat, which recorded my tabla playing and re-pitched arbitrary loops at varying pitches. i also captured the overall spectral image of the input material, the tabla, by drenching it in a 6 minute reverb. in the first performance, i stuck the bayan pretty hard, which rocked the crowd and gave 303's krks a healthy workout! i am very happy with the way this idea translates into a performance.
